Frequently Asked Questions
1. What does ACC Water Solutions do?
We design and deliver oxygenation and water treatment systems for lakes, ponds, lagoons, and reservoirs. While we typically design aeration and oxygenation, we have other tools in our toolbox, like ultrasonic algae control. The end result: meet your water quality challenge with scientific rigour and pragmatic, feasible solutions.
We offer three core product packages:
- Consulting:
- Research & development phase and design diagrams.
- Remote monitoring solutions, equipment costing and project budgets can be added to the scope.
- Consulting, Design and Supply:
- Research & development phase, design, and equipment supply to the site.
- Your team does the installation.
- Remote monitoring installation and subscription is an option.
- Full scope:
- Research & development phase, design, equipment supply and installation with optional remote monitoring installation and subscription.
We also offer consulting engineering services, specializing in water quality management.
All project designs are done by an appropriately qualified engineering team and stamped. Our engineers are licensed in multiple jurisdictions.
2. Who do you work with?
We work with municipalities, industry, agriculture, Indigenous communities, and local organizations to solve surface water quality issues across Canada.
3. What types of water bodies do you treat?
4. What problems can you help solve?
We address algae blooms, low dissolved oxygen levels, fish kills, odour issues, nutrient loading, metals sequestration (like manganese) and we address phosphorus issues. We can also help extend the life of your existing water infrastructure by improving the influent quality of your drinking water treatment plant.
5. How do you design a custom water treatment solution?
After a project scope is agreed to, we start with a conversation and basic data (location, waterbody size, purpose, current concerns and provide a project timeline. From there, our team goes deep into the available data, conducts a technical assessment and provides a tailored design. We also engage third-party testing as needed and budgeted.
6. Do you offer installation and maintenance services?
Yes. We can provide full installation, site supervision, or remote support depending on your needs. We can also offer seasonal maintenance and troubleshooting support depending on the location of your water body.
7. How long does a project take from start to finish?
Timelines vary. Simple baseline designs can be delivered in 2–4 weeks if the data is available. More complex projects may take several months, larger projects will sometimes take longer to collect relevant data, this step often reduces overall risks associated with the project. Depending on seasonal availability and the customer budget process, it can be realistic to begin design the year prior to installation. We work with your purchasing policies and provide a clear schedule.
8. Do you work year-round?
We do. While installations are spring through fall, depending on ice coverage, we conduct assessments, designs, and project planning all year long.
9. Can you provide reference or case studies?
Yes. Our projects page is a great place to start. If you feel that one of our past projects is similar to your water quality challenge, ask us more about that project! We provide relevant references during the project agreement process.
10. Do you help with grant applications or funding support?
We don’t write grants on behalf of clients. In specific cases, with a project agreement in place, we will provide custom formatting and project details to support a grant application to help meet the needs of specific grant organizations.
11. Can you fix an aeration system installed by another company?
Typically, we cannot do repairs to existing systems due to deterioration we cannot predict or control. In one circumstance we utilized existing system infrastructure on-shore and replaced the in-water portion of the system. Re-using or repurposing existing systems can be the right choice. It requires candid discussion and specific project scoping.
We can offer replacement components at times: high quality aeration compressors, new weighted tubing, new aeration diffusers. However, as we can’t guarantee existing operational conditions there may be limitations on warranty or installation services.
